OUR TUTORS

DONNA-LOUISE BISHOP

TUTOR | FREELANCE JOURNALIST | WRITER

Donna-HIGH-006 (2)

Donna-Louise Bishop is a writer of novels and micro/flash fiction. As well as this, she has more than a decade of experience working across the country as a journalist for newspapers, radio and magazines. For the last six years she has worked as a senior reporter for the Eastern Daily Press and its sister titles for Archant Norfolk. Today she continues to work as a freelancer and creative writing tutor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Donna-Louise graduated from Glamorgan University (now the University of South Wales) in 2007 where she received a first class honours degree in Creative and Professional Writing. This year she qualified as a tutor following the completion of a City & Guilds Education and Training Level 3 course at City College Norwich.

She is a qualified journalist and obtained her National Qualification in Journalism in 2014.

A former student of Sheringham High School and Paston College, she is proud of her Norfolk roots and parts of the county can often be seen as the backdrop for her work.

PUBLICATIONS

Her micro fiction story Piggy in the Middle has been published on blog site The Drabble. She was also a finalist in the international NYC Midnight Flash Fiction Challenge 2015. As well as being part of a thriving community of online writers she is an advocate for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).

In 2006 she won the national competition Make the Front Page in association with the British Museum and Hold the Front Page. Her winning feature article focused on women in construction.

You can find out more about Donna-Louise and read some of her work at her successful blog Newshound to Novelist, where she also runs the monthly feature Author Advice for published writers to share their top tips for successful writing.

She is currently working on her debut novel.
